Watch: Kelly Rowland Clarifies Chris Brown Support After Colorism Controversy

Published: Wednesday 24th Jul 2019 by Rashad

Chris Brown landed himself in hot water weeks ago when a lyric from ‘Stack,’ one of the gems found aboard his latest #1 album, ‘Indigo,’ was highlighted by fans and critics alike as controversial for the implication of colorism (click here to read more).

Only wanna f**k the black b*tches with the nice hair,” he sang on the now infamous song that also features rappers Lil Wayne and Joyner Lucas.

While his defense of the line only added fuel to the fire, others – like longtime friend Kelly Rowland – also got burned in the process for their perceived endorsement of the embattled 30-year-old.  During the height of the melee, Rowland took to social media to say, ‘We love you, Chris.’  The show of support riled up detractors who, in turn, set their sights on the ‘Motivation’ maestra.

Now that the heat has cooled, Rowland took to OK! magazine to clear up any confusion around her supportive statement.  Click below to hear what she had to say about this, ‘The Lion King,’ and so much more.

Chris Briwn is NOT guilty of colorist. The title of this article is a lie. The lyrics in question are:

‘Only wanna f**k the black b**ches with the nice hair.’

Black women should be honored that a black man is professing his admiration of them in his song. Black womenswear should be inspired to make their hair ‘nice’ by the song. Chris is from the streets so if u don’t understand street talk why are u listening to his music? If Beyonce can make a song stating ‘call Becky with the good hair’ then so can Chris!

If you want to hear a real colorist song then listen to Beyonce’s Creole song:

LMAO!!!!! Are you f****** kidding me? Chris is from nobodies streets. He’s from country dirt roads, and we ALL know what those lyrics pertained to. I don’t need his abusive, colorist ass honor or validation. Kill yourself.

‘The chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime in Tappahannock is 1 in 27. Based on FBI crime data, Tappahannock is not one of the safest communities in America. Relative to Virginia, Tappahannock has a crime rate that is higher than 95% of the state’s cities and towns of all sizes.’

The lion king the gift album is predicted to debut in the top 5. Ed Sheeran is going to be number one for a second week

Trash? Chris Brown is the current King of R&B. His album is still in the top 10. Not many artists have been able to remain relevant as he has these days. He is a well sought after artist and songwriter. He writes, produces, sings, and creates the dances for his own music. He is also a very talented artist and has painted numerous paintings, two of which are in my home. Yes, his personal life has drama sometimes but he is starting to mature. Many artists have him to thank for their commercial hit songs like Kelly Rowland, Tinashi, Sevyn Streeter, Nicki Minaj, DJ Khalid, Trey Songz, Lik Wayne, Brandy, etc.

Lmao Chrissy Brown is nobody’s king ??

She just came up with a complete lie on the spot. Her “Love you Chris” statement was done out of support. Why would she tell someone love you for a record broken.

    • Jasmine July 24, 2019

Because people are so quick to cancel u for simply not thinking like they think on a nonsense topic. I remember when I voted for Trump last election. I thought long and hard about it and felt he was a better candidate than Hillary. Well, with all the Trump hate I had to keep quiet about my Trump support in fear close friends would ‘cancel’ me for not voting Dem. I called my mom about it and she told me she voted for Trump while my dad voted for Hillary. That made me feel better and now I have no problems telling people I voted for Trump. Kelly is afraid of the backlash she will keep receiving for publicly supporting Chris but she needs to remember Chris has shown her love and support in the past so there is no reason for her not to keep supporting him. She is being fake.

A trump supporter. That explains your delusional stupidity.

      @dee

She did not lie! Her official fan page had to reach out to her husband to let her know what was going on & to remove the comment from his page! She had no idea nor did her husband… until they were able to reach them… her & her family was in Australia & she was filming for the voice aus!

    @ Gworl Bye
Shut your dumbass up. Y’all don’t have to like Chris, but don’t deny that Chris Brown is the King Of R&B. He’s the biggest male R&B artist of this generation. From Number 1 albums to consistent top 10 hits, selling out arenas and being featured on many artist records, he’s been killing the game. Just this year his album debuted at #1, No Guidance is a top 10 hit, and his upcoming arena tour is selling well. Some pop girls can’t even do that. Chris Brown today is what Usher was in the 2000s or R.Kelly was in the 90s. The King Of R&B!

    • dee July 24, 2019

Are you condoning his words and actions because YOU view him the King of R&B??

      • Jasmine July 25, 2019

I condone his words and actions. He is a grown man and grown people are responsible for their actions and decisions. It is NOT my job to be the judge and jury of another adult’s behavior. I am not God! I am just one of his many anointed children who stays highly blessed and favored through faith. Let he without sin cast the 1st stone.

If Chris has done something wrong the law will handle it. All I see is talent. That man can dance, sing, paint, write music, Is a great entertainer, and he is very humble. He is no MJ! But he is the best male r&b singer this generation has and obviously they like him because I cannot think of any singers his age that are still relevant after 15 years in the game! His humility goes a long way. I know him personally. He is a very nice guy just not educated, intellectual, or articulate.

It is easy to pick on him or take his lyrics out of context. Truth is he no longer gets label support under his new deal. He has to write his own music and pay for producers and features out of his own money.

It is also easy for these opportunistic hos to take advantage of him. I have told him numerous times to get a DNA test on his daughter Royalty because after meeting her I did not feel she was biologically Chris’s. He adamantly does not want to know the truth because to him that is his daughter regardless. That is just one example of many I could share on how humble and nice he is.

Haters can hate but truth is they would not want anyone hating on them. Nobody is sinless so keep throwing rocks only so that karma can have the rocks thrown at you one day!

      • #1Love July 25, 2019

Correction, not just me. Literally everyone & every major artist view him as the King Of R&B. Btw I don’t have no clue what Jasmine is saying. We’re talking about music. NOT ABOUT HIS DAUGHTER & Chris definitely gets label support probably the only male R&B artist that gets that support.
